The Retirement Bay is a completely objective, educational and personal financial planning experience, with a focus on providing financial literacy, financial protection and ultimately financial freedom for each person we have the pleasure of speaking with.

 

Our mission is to further enlighten and empower our clients, so that they can make better financial decisions, and prepare for their retirement years with trust and confidence. 

 

Our process is organic, sincere and authentic, navigated strictly through transparent conversations between both the client and the advisor, with the common goal of connecting with one another and working cohesively, as we include our clients in the planning process every step of the way. 

 

Our commitment is to always be informative, logistic, unbiased and resourceful. There is a fine line between selling and advising, and our job is not to sell, it’s simply to advise. Financial planning should not be a transactional experience, the objective is to establish a landscape that we can continue to improve and adjust as time goes on. 

 

As independent advisors, we are license with several companies and hold no proprietary obligations, therefore Objectivity is one of our greatest tools and one of your greatest opportunities when working with us.

​Meet Jay Roman

​Jay started his career with National Life Group in 2014, where he began specializing in life insurance, group health benefits and long term care. Having lost his father at a very young age, Jay quickly grasped the importance of portfolio protection management, and proper financial planning for both business owners and individuals, and he immediately identified his passion as a financial advisor; to protect The Innocent. The Innocent, which includes and is not limited to protecting the family members and employees who are not present at the time financial decisions are made, while subsequently protecting the individuals entrusted with these financial decisions, who may or may not have the information and/or the resources to do what is best for the people who depend on them.

 

In addition to Jay's personal life experience, comes a strong entrepreneurial spirit that allows him the ability to assist his clients with planning at a very granular level. Early in his financial planning education he realized the significance of integrating retirement planning into his insurance and benefits practice, and with that he became an Investment Advisor Representative of Equity Services Inc. and a licensed financial professional. In 2016, Jay began specializing in Retirement Planning in addition to his Life, Health and Accident Insurance business.

After 7 wonderful years with National Life and Equity Services, Jay spent two years working with Prudential before establishing his own independent platform alongside Avantax Wealth Management, The Retirement Bay. Here at The Retirement Bay Jay oversees a small team of advisors that focus on tax advantaged retirement strategies, as well as employer benefits, life insurance, long term care and annuities. Additionally, Jay and his team work strategically with CPA's, Enrolled Agents, Public Accountants and Estate Planning Attorneys, to ensure clients have access to all necessary resources throughout the planning process. His experience in working with this market has engrained in him a unique ability to work cohesively with his clients' personal CPA's, accountants, and attorneys as well.

Over the course of his career Jay has established a successful book of business that focuses on employer benefits including 401(K) plans, pensions, group health insurance, group life insurance, group disability insurance, and several other tax advantaged plans for business owners or self employed individuals; as well as working with individuals regarding their personal 401(K) plans, group benefits, personal IRA’s, life insurance, LTC and any other retirement based products or strategies they may have.

Jay's primary commitments as an advisor and team lead are The Retirement Bay's 5 Pillars of Success: Objectivity, Transparency, Education, Resourcefulness and Loyalty.

Above all else Jay is a husband, a father of two, an artist, an athlete and an avid golfer; in fact one of his passions is instructing beginners with learning how to play the game of golf.
